Wood Green - 1 mile

Wood Green 1 mile walking route - This easy and scenic 1 mile walking route is set in the beautiful village of Wood Green on the western edge of the New Forest, near Fordingbridge.

Wood Green

This route is only 1 mile long. It starts and finishes at the Horse and Groom pub at Wood Green. This only takes 20 minutes or so, but it's worth doing.

Start at the Horse and Groom Pub in Wood Green, near Fordingbridge. Walk past the front of the pub, right to left, and take the right hand lane up hill. You may notice Llamas in a field on your right.

Continue uphill passing Grace Lane on your right. To your left you'll notice tall trees with a very well established rookery.

When you get to Wood Green village green, you'll notice the cricket pitch, and a perfect looking village green, surrounded by by beautiful New Forest cottages. There will probably be a few New Forest ponies on the green.

Turn right into Brook Lane. This is a good time to take a good look around and notice how high you are. The views over the River Avon are stunning. Follow Brook Lane and again, the views overlooking the Hampshire/ Wiltshire countryside are excellent. Take in the interesting properties on either side as you walk towards the High Street. You should walk past an number of lanes including Grace Lane, Trimmins Lane, and Love Lane plus a couple more. At the end of Brook Lane turn right down the hill. Some of the properties on the left have fantastic views towards the Avon.

Keep walking until you come to triangle near the front of the Horse and Groom pub.

The Horse and Groom has a good selection of Real Ales. We liked Badger Brewery's Hopping Hare.
