Lyndhurst in the New Forest - Lyndursthurst is the largest village in the Forest, and seen by many as it's capital.
It is actually the administrative capital, and the court of Verderers sits in the Queens House. The Queen's house at Lyndhusrt is also the headquarters of the Forestry Commission.
Lyndhurst was also the home of Alice Lydell, who was the inspiration behind Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland and other books. The influence can be seen today in the Mad Hatter Rooms, and Alice's Attic.
Lyndhurst is only 4 miles from the M27 motorway, and 15 miles from Southamton Airport.
