Emery Down in the New Forest - Emery Down is a small hamlet in the New Forest. It popular with tourists and locals as a base for walking or cycling. The village itself has some intersting buildings; the school, church and local pub all have intersting histories.

The local pub, the New Forest Inn, is a great watering hole in the summer. It has a large Beer Garden and serves very good food. The New Forest Inn was allegedly once a caravan in the 1800's, which has been built upon several times to make the large Inn which now stands. The Captain of the Titanic, Edward John Smith, stayed here the night before the Titanic set sail on it's tragic maiden voyage.



Arthur Conan Doyle, famous for creating Shirlock Holmes, stayed in Emery Down for a few months in 1889, whilst researching a novel.
